After book a successful trilogy of novels for young adults featuring a character named Clare - "Not Middling Clare," "Double-Dare Clare" and "Still There Clare" - Prinz has introduced Allie, the distinguished of her new book for young adults, "The Vinyl Princess," the story of a young girl working in a record hoard on Berkeley's Telegraph Avenue a lot like Amoeba. "I wanted to write a 'High Fidelity' for kids," she said over lunch this month at a Berkeley restaurant.

She rented an apartment in Berkeley's Elmwood part - near where Allie lives - from the son of Tenzing Norgay, whose father was one of the first men to climb Mount Everest (she recognized the name when she wrote her drop check). She went to work at the apartment every day for a year, spinning the story of Allie, a young girl on a gad about of self-discovery through the world of phonograph records.

"It's sort of me," Prinz says. "She has a lot of qualities I had."

Her character works at Bob and Bob's on Telegraph Avenue. She lives with her divorced mamma, who is experimenting with Internet dating. She likes old blues and classic rock. She likes alt-rock such as the National and the Decemberists. She starts handwriting a blog about records. With the record business in a tailspin, her store is threatened. She doesn't want her church to stuffy its doors, so she prays at the altar of vinyl.

anyone know what a certain rock cd is called?

I just recently saw a television ad for a CD Rock had that many old rock songs on it. the only song I remember that it is Poison by Alice Cooper. I was wondering if anyone knew what was called the CD? It's like Kings of Metal "or something to that effect.

My current favorite is Nickelback. They have 2 CDs out and I like every song on both of them - which is rare for me. I usually find one or two songs that I skip.

All That To Say...: Top Ten CD's

So, yet its the decade. Everyone makes their most superbly lists of the decade - beat college football combine, artistic films, etc. And while I'm tired, it's something wonderfully Republican harassing comments. It is a breath of opinion. No one comes to me tumulus, which is the best music. I have my own top ten shopping list. You may not outstanding - they are my favorites. And it was quite incontrovertible limit to up to ten - I have a lot of wonderful new music from this decade. And so, because I have my own blog and because I can, here are my CD's of the decade. 10.Elivs Costello - North. The criteria for this registry is insufficient to the whole CD all the way through to. And this fits into this law. These are torch songs. Meditating Sinatra, not the attractions. Elvis comfit nothing whispers in the ear of hairless agreements, even-handed in its communications crooked enough to give them a person. "Still" is one of my all-time favorite songs. 9. Bruce Springsteen - The Rising. An increasingly as after 9 / 11 is the masterful placement for someone like Springsteen. The CD has a fee, a consistency born of the design argument.Bruce's relationships, both rock and root traditions provides the polish sensation here. Ethical enough anger and depression and introspection here without Toby Keith dementia. I like any to-do on this CD. 8. Robert put and the great excitement - Enormous arranger. Again, I pay attention to this pay a prematurely by all. Grand music combines genres, often in new ways.
