When you are established inside a 33-foot-tall wooden horse and a little girl enthusiastically tells you she’s already been backing bowels several times, you have to think something is going right at the New Children’s Museum.
The piece itself, Tijuana-based artist Marcos Ramirez’s “Toy an Horse,” is a unequally sight, like a simple child’s toy turned into an engineering feat. It greets viewers as they come innards everted the doors.
To some adults, the piece may look familiar. In 1997, for the binational inSITE97 exhibition, it was installed on the Mexican side of the San Ysidro confines crossing. (That version was turned into scrap lumber in Tijuana.) Indoors, the newer version looks even more redoubtable and showcases the lofty interior of the museum’s home.
The monumental sculpture also underscores the centrality of artists to the mirage and mission of the museum, which was reborn in May 2008 to dynamic effect in this 50,000-square-foot space.
Shows are big productions at the museum, thick with basic works by invited artists. And because a good deal of labor and ingenuity goes into the creation and installation of every profession, the exhibitions stay on view for a long time. “Animal Art,” which opened a few weeks ago, is only the assistant in this space. But like “childsplay,” the inaugural effort, it is rich in spectacle and in art that invites participation, mentally and physically.
Do you hate wallpaper borders on the top of the wall by the ceiling?

Am I the only one who sees wallpaper borders are set, that through the ceiling as tacky? I feel so, because it looks like you could not really cut into the paint, so that you only set a limit. I've also heard that they do not like interior decorators placed too high. I went to a model home, and she had a border in the middle of the wall with coordinating wallpaper above and below. I like it, but ugh near the ceiling!
Coordination of borders or egg and dart, Greek characters, etc. are near the ceiling good for Victorian, Edwardian and Tudor decoration systems.
What do you want - separate chair rail border - just happen to other types.

What are some good ideas to dress up a wall without using wallpaper borders?

I paint a bathroom at a bar, and I ask myself, what were some good ideas out there to dress up the walls? I do not want to use the background or put up wood equipment.
