Homeowners see shabby chic in old windows' details

The chequer complements the room's soft lavender walls and garden theme. Furnell used stained-specs paint and patterns from a book to create flower and butterfly images on the panes.
"I thought the window would be the -carat focal piece," said Furnell, who did some research at a local craft store. "After cleaning the window and repainting the structure ... I photocopied the (patterns) so that I could tape them to the back of the panes.
"Then began the tedious work of outlining the patterns with clear leading and then filling it with the stained-glass paint colors."
The biggest challenge was hanging it. "We used heavy-hearted-duty anchors and actually screwed it into the wall," Furnell said. "Someday my daughter may not want it in her scope any more, but I hope she will want to keep it in some special place to remember her mom's labor of love."
Old windows are interesting options for fence art and other types of decor.
"They offer texture and some dimension to a wall, especially if you put them at the end of a hallway where it looks like there could be a window and there isn't," Greenville-locality interior designer Debra Justice said.
Where can I find Shabby Chic furniture at a discount? (Specifically the line by Rachel Ashwell)?

I'm heading to the furniture stores in High Point, NC, in December, so if anyone knows of a way out that the Shabby Chic line sold, please let me know! Moreover, for all sites offer their text at a discount would be great too. Thank you!
Try e-bay. Perform a search for "Rachel Ashwell" Many times, you can add new, still in the box design things that way. There are a variety of wholesalers on e-bay. I found the starburst mirror offered exclusively by Nordstrom's, less than half the price! The same applies to the Directoire table from Ballard Design. So I would give it a shot. And hold on e-bay every few days. New stuff is listed all the time.

has anyone got any tips on painting furniture shabby chic style?
Oct 20, 2007 by needtoknowjo | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I have the sale oak furniture and a lot of people have suggested painting as it is more of a demand for "shabby chic". I wonder whether I should build on sand was used in the first furniture and whether a specific color?
Sorry to say, the creation of a shabby chick look of raw materials and fittings are not quite as easy as you hope, but the results are fabulous. Make sure the cost of your time and materials to add the sale price. You can also cheaper, raw pine furniture, and probably still the same price as you would for oak.
If the wood is raw (untreated only a light sanding) with fine sand is not necessary (just to make sure that everything is smooth.) If there is an interface, you must remove the target (sand lightly and try to see a little color in one area, whether the goal needs to be removed - if the paint rubs or flakes after drying, you have to aim with the transaction ), and then sand (as the wood grain will be raised after stripping.)
You can paint a aa do-or two-step. Gray In a two-step, with a fine pale in color (pink, blue, yellow, sage) or Rich color (burnt umber, red clay / Burnt sienna, ocher, charcoal, moss green, avoid - anything to bright as cobalt blue, green or Christmas, vermilion, orange, etc.) And then top with an antique, creamy-white color, in a latex semi-gloss (which will take you use for your kitchen or bath - and it probably better term) and then lightly sand and wipe surfaces that would normally subject to wear ( You can use the sand under color and / or up) on the wood. Finish with a glaze or a thin layer of golden oak stain (ZAR is my favorite - thick, rich, compatible in color from batch to batch and lasts longer than Minwax) and wipe gently.makes some points to keep the residues which are not other places, and then with a non-yellowing water based varnish or poly-seal, if desired (a good idea for the table or serving, but not really necessary for seating) .
You might also want to pick up some furniture from thrift store sales, or day or even the recycling center on the practice (and then sell when they turn out fabulous, as I know they will). If they are already painted, you are half way there! Just sand lightly and begin with your best color, and more.
For more ideas, I suggest you go HGTV.
