Steeped in habit, warm and comfortably casual, French Country remains one of the most enduring interior design styles around the world. Sometimes called French Provencal, this manner emerged from villages in the South of France in the mid-18th century and has become a favorite of many American homeowners.

Charming and endearing, French Country is more select than American Country, yet less ornate than Italian Country (Tuscan) design.

"French Country is a lifestyle, not just a design style," said Ronnie Teate, foreman of Pierre Deux, a retailer for French Country furniture, textiles and accessories in Tysons Corner and Bethesda. "A lot of our clients are well-traveled. They have intentional the language; they have a romance with the culture."

To create this look, begin with the organic colors found in the French countryside, such as soft purples of lavender fields, grassy greens, and lemony yellows.

"Soothe, color and conviviality," Teate said of the atmosphere French Country evokes. "It gives you a good feeling. It's warm, irresistible, easy to live with."

We plan to build and will soon be with the French country style look ... Flat stucco front of the house ... with a little iron balcony on the top or something like that ... go, these are good sites, I have a style and floor plan soon? I've been looking, but has found anything yet. And I certainly can not draw one to me ... I need a photo and floor plan as leaders make, then changes. Thanks guys ... any help would be appreciated.

I break front a beautiful, large, dark forest that I inherited from my mother. I always have it as something "Spanish" style of thinking. I want to do something to make it look appropriate with my new French Country decor. Any ideas?
