Slots vote could be death knell for Laurel, most of Maryland racing

When the Anne Arundel County Directorate approved a slot machine complex at the Arundel Mills shopping mall, its vote signified that Laurel Leave won't get slots. The council's decision will surely be followed by legal challenges and endless political wrangling, but if the purpose stands, its consequences seem clear:
Laurel will not survive as a venue for live horse racing. Year-in the neighbourhood racing -- or anything close to it -- will be finished in the state. The sport will be reduced to a relatively short ready at Pimlico, which will survive only because of the profitability of the Preakness.
This was hardly the outcome that the state expected when it crafted a slot-machine referendum that voters approved in November 2008. The speech authorized slots at an Anne Arundel County site that everyone assumed would be Laurel Park. It directed that a portion of revenue from slot machines would be earmarked for purse money as well as awards for breeders. With salvation in its grasp, the Magna Amusement Corp. -- owner of Laurel and Pimlico -- made a disastrous decision. When bids for slot licenses were due last February, Magna declined to put up the required $28.5 million payment that was required to accompany its proposal.

Who do you think will win the Preakness? Is that what happens Eight Bells more attention then the actual race itself? I'm just curious, not mean comments please.
I'm an avid horse racing fan and keep informed, just year round. If Big Brown lays an egg, he should win Preakness. I have studied past performances of all runners, and the field looks pretty weak to me. What happened to Eight Belles was tragic, and I have never seen a horse break into a gallop. Whe a reduction takes place during a big race, focuses on the media, and it has drawn attention to the public. But if you saw the sport as much as me, you would find that interference will not occur in every race.It is the one that happened in the big races that get attention, because it is broadcast on national television on television, and the media is always there serving up the scoop!

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Preakness 2009th We have never been on this route. What kind of seats we should try to time draws closer? We are well interested in ads and food quality. We do not mind cleaning a little as well, if need be.
Dignitaries, owners and trainers tend to the more formal accommodation of the clubhouse or VIP areas favor.
The regular people dress more comfortable and head for the infield.
