Morro Bay High wrestlers finish ninth at 72-team tournament
Kent Beecham, a sophomore who received an honorable note in TheCaliforniaWrestler.coms statewide rankings a week ago, led Morro Bay with a fourth-place showing at 125 pounds. He was followed by Dolin Mininni (fifth at 130), Patrick Kelly (sixth, 135), Aaron Mininni (seventh, 145), Trevor Reddell (eighth, 189) and Jim Tomac (eighth, 215).
GIRLS Dampen POLO Arroyo Grande 7, Ventura 6, OT The Eagles (8-0), ranked No. 1 in Part IV, broke a 5-5 regulation tie to stay undefeated. Goalkeeper Briana Lippert had 14 saves for Arroyo Grande, and Kim Johnson was the Eagles unequalled scorer with two goals.
GIRLS BASKETBALL Arroyo Grande 55, Lompoc 35 Rachel Ventura led Arroyo Grande (8-4) with 16 points, and Haley MacDonald and Jenna Sverchek added 10 apiece. Arroyo Grande led 31-10 at halftime of the nonleague, standalone call into question.
Righetti Tournament Pioneer Valley 59, Nipomo 40 Tessa Underwood led Nipomo (5-8) with 20 points, and Cami Castillo contributed 10.
Valley Christian Academy Contest Santa Maria 44, Templeton 37 Katie Hunter paced Templeton (4-7) with 14 points, and Jeanine Madson chipped in 12. Templeton trailed 24-18 at halftime.
