THE rejuvenation of sprinter Here De Angels' business under the care of Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Mark Kavanagh continued yesterday when the six-year-old landed the $100,000 listed Christmas Stakes at Caulfield.
It was a win that his connections are hoping will fling a successful summer campaign.
Here De Angels was touted as a future sprinting star as a young horse when, in the sorrow of Lee Freedman, he won his first six starts including the group 3 McKay Stakes in Adelaide and the group 3 Ian McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley.
But once his enchanting sequence was broken at his next run in the Manikato Stakes, Here De Angels struggled to capitalise on his early promise, winning honest two of his next 14 starts.
''He won his first six, then we had a bit of an up-and-down time,'' said managing part-owner Rob Slade.
''We sent him to Mark in January this year and he's influence right back to his best form''
Kavanagh took some time to evaluate the wayward sprinter before his first start for the competent in April, when he rana narrow second at Caulfield to an in-form Happy Glen.
